Revisiting the Haftorah from Nehemiah Chapter 8 on this holiest of days, we are reminded that from suffering comes strength and from strength comes rebirth. There is perhaps no greater alliance of people who have experienced this lesson time and time again than the Jews, which we have both embraced and anguished over at the same time as we rise to the challenge of continuing forward as a cultural faction.
